•On May 5, 2010, attorney Rosa M. Méndez-Santoni participated as speaker in the Insurance Forum where she discussed "How to Confront Worker-Employer Risks During Times of Recession”. The Forum was sponsored by the Insurance Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico.
•On April 22, 2010, FGR attorneys, Arturo Bauermeister, Pedro I. Vidal Cordero, Miguel Santiago and Alejandro Valderrábano, were the invited lecturers in the conference, “The Federal Health Care Reform of 2010 and some of its possible impacts in Puerto Rico”, a conference sponsored by AON Risk Services of Puerto Rico, Inc. and held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
•Atty. Rosa M. Méndez Santoni participated as speaker at Forum 2010, Sincronizando el presente con el futuro laboral, offered on February 18, 2010, at La Concha Hotel. Attorney Méndez discussed Recent Labor Developments. This Forum was sponsored y SHRM.
•Attorney María Teresa Szendrey offered a seminar on Intellectual Property: Fundamental Notions in Puerto Rico and the United States. It was held on Saturday, October 31, 2009, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, at the L-2 Hall of the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. The course was approved by the Puerto Rico Supreme Court of a total of 3 credit hours.
Attorney Szendrey discussed the Intellectual Property Law of Puerto Rico Civil Code, the U.S Copyright Act and Puerto Rico and federal Trademarks Law. She also analyzed the relevant case law under the discussed laws, including the latest on intellectual property and trademarks, as well as the recent trends and applications outlined in selected law journal articles.
•Attorney Rosa M. Méndez Santoni participated as speaker at the Annual Forum on Labor Law and Human Resources Administration Issues offered on October 30, 2009 at the Conrad Condado Plaza San Juan. Her topic will be Recent Legislation and Case Law. This Forum is sponsored by the Association of Certified Public Accountants of Puerto Rico.
•Atty. Rosa M. Méndez Santoni participated as speaker at the Labor Forum offered during the Annual Conference of the Puerto Rico Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-PR) on September 26, 2009, at El Conquistador Hotel.
SHRM-PR is a professional organization comprising over 1.300 managers and human resources professionals in Puerto Rico.
•With the participation of over 200 representatives from our clients, on May 15, 2009, the Labor and Employment Law Division offered to its clients the traditional one-day seminar. The same was held at the Caribe Hilton Hotel. After the seminar, we had the opportunity to share with our clients at a cocktail.
This year we had the special participation of attorney Francisco Rebollo López, former Associate Justice of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, who shared with the audience his opinion concerning the possible direction of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court due to its new composition. Other topics discussed during the Seminar were:

of Puerto Rico on March 13, 2009.
•Ileana Fernández Buitrago recently
presented a seminar entitled “Recent
Legal and Regulatory Developments” as
part of the Financial Institutions Forum of
the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public
Accountants.

Law School Continued Education Program.
•As part of his duties as President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, José Julián Alvarez-Maldonado, Esq. has participated as a speaker in a number of seminars regarding diverse topics such as International Commerce, Business Opportunities in Puerto Rico, Economic Incentives Law and Small and Medium Size Businesses, among others. Recently Attorney José Julián Alvarez-Maldonado was invited by the Santillana Foundation to participate in the Third Santillana Congress of Education as speaker on the Impact of Education on the Economy. Personalities of international prestige of the United States and Puerto Rico in the fields of banking, commerce, and education participated in this event.
•In his capacity as President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, José Julián Alvarez-Maldonado, led several workshops and forums of an economic character such as the Puerto Rico Investment Conference 2008, the Puerto Rico Health and Insurance Conference 2009, Workshops on Economic Perspectives 2008 and 2009, Workshops on Labor Legislation, Small and Medium Businesses, Real Estate and Renewable Energy, among others, some of which were coordinated together with the Manufacturers Association and the Economists Association.
