The judgment validated a universal reclassification plan which affected thousands of employees.

FGR win allows PR´s most important public infrastructure project to continue construction; administrative proceedings are expected to resume before Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board.
FGR successfully defended the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, all the way to the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, in probably the most important public infrastructure and environmental case in recent years. Our litigation team effectively demonstrated that plaintiffs´ petition for a permanent injunction against the construction of the Gasoduct project – a natural gas pipeline in the southern part of the Island – was without merit. The FGR team was comprised of Charles Bimbela, Juan C. Gómez, Tomás A. Román, Roberto Cámara and José Ramírez.

FGR obtains injunction in favor of Puerto Rico Manufacturer´s Association and against the former publisher of its official magazine “Industriales” who had attempted to continue use of this trade name after termination of its contract.
FGR successfully pursued and obtained a preliminary and permanent injunction in protection of the trademark and trade name of one of the Puerto Rico´s oldest and most prestigious business organizations. The Litigation Team of Tomás A. Román and Jeanette Collazo were able to obtain the preliminary injunction in record time, just one month after filing in Federal Court.

FGR Shareholder and President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, José Julián Álvarez, meets with top legislators in efforts to advance economic developments agendas.
During the past months, José J. Álvarez Maldonado, Esq., as President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, has met with the heads of agencies of Puerto Rico to advance the economic agenda of the organization. To him it is important that the Chamber of Commerce establish cooperative ties with the different sectors that have an impact on private enterprise. In this respect, Mr. Álvarez Maldonado has been lobbying in favor of legislative measures that encourage free enterprise and economic development of the Island. Towards said end, he has met with Hon. Thomas Rivera Schatz, President of the Senate of Puerto Rico and with the Hon. Jennifer González, President of the House of Representatives, to promote the legislative measures that are necessary to reactivate Puerto Rico´s economy.

FGR wins on behalf of multinational corporation, owner of construction project, in lawsuit against its general contractor to recover excess payment made as a result of fraudulent certifications submitted.
José Acosta-Grubb and Roberto Cámara recently won a seven-figure judgment on behalf of one of FGR’s multinational clients as the owner of a construction project in a lawsuit against its general contractor. The court also dismissed the multimillion dollar counterclaim filed by the contractor. Our Litigation Division attorneys are now gearing up to collect the judgment from the shareholders of the corporation without having to go through the costly and often frustrating action of piercing the corporate veil, based on a novel application of recent Puerto Rico Supreme Court precedent.

Litigation Shareholder José E. González-Borgos, Esq. has been appointed by the recently elected President of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, Arturo Hernández-González, Esq., to serve for an additional two-year term as President of the Bar Committee in charge of evaluating candidates for judicial office in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (“Comisión Evaluadora de Nombramientos Judiciales del Colegio de Abogados”). Mr. González-Borgos has been the President of said Committee for the last three years and has been an active member of the same for thirteen years.
